=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= World =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= The Post offices ================ Post offices are simply places out in the mud where you can come to write and send mail to other players on the mud or to recieve mail from your friends. This is what we call 'mud mail', ie. a built in mailing system in the world of Kingdoms. You will be notified directly if someone sends a mail to you, or if you are not logged on you will be notified at startup next time you log in. If you do not want to log in with the character you want to check the mail for a short mud mail status line is shown in the playerinfo, accessable through the 'finger' command, where "has mail" simply means you have read mail still in your mailbox and "has new mail" means you have as yet unread mail. To access the post office prompts there are two commands, 'mail' and 'read'. The mail command ---------------- The syntax to send mail to someone is 'mail ', which is the command that takes you to the prompt for writing the letter. The can be the name of an individual character in the game, or a mud alias - ie. a sort of administration council of some sort that you can mail collectively (the perhaps most useful one is ARCH, which will mail all the arches of Kingdoms. See the post office itself for more information on useful mud aliases). After determining what player the mail is to be addressed to you will be asked to give a subject. There- after you can simply write whatever you want, without any command in front of the text, in the write prompt (indicated with a "]" at the beginning of the line). To leave the write prompt when you are done with the letter, type '**' in the beginning of a new line, or type '~q' to cancel your letter if you feel you couldn't find the exact words. Next you will be asked for "Cc:", which is who you want to send copies of the letter to. This can be names of other players or mail aliases if you so like. If you want to send several copies you can type in the names of the recipients one by one, or simply state a list of people with a comma (",") in between their names. When you don't want to send more copies of the letter simply push enter or newline and your letter will be sent to the chosen recipients. The read command ---------------- The prompt for reading mail is perhaps a bit more complex than the write prompt, but the command to access the read prompt is simply 'read'. If you do not have any mail you will of course not be able to access the read prompt either. The read prompt looks like this: narzug [1 - 4 h d r x ?] (no current) Since you are allowed to read the mails of all the characters under your user, the current character mailbox is shown at the start of the line. The numbers in the start of the buffer shows how many mails you have, and the row of letters behind them shows the most useful commands. "no current" means that are not reading any message at the time, ie. you have not chosen which letter to read yet. To choose to read a message simply enter the number of the dired letter. To see the rest of the commands at the read prompt, please read 'help post_commands'. SEE ALSO inns, apothecs, restaurants, user, post_commands
