				Courts
=============================================================================

PURPOSE
=======
The purpose of the court system is to give those players who like
playerkilling a nice environment where they can hunt each other, keep
track of ranking, kills and in general have fun while at the same time
those who are not interested in playerkilling are left alone.

THE SYSTEM
===========
---------------------------
The court and it's members
---------------------------
Each Kingdom has a court that is headed by the King and the royals of
the court. The Kingdoms has a number of dutchies. The dukes assist the
King in administrating the court. The King can appoint any court
member he likes as a duke.

The King or his dukes can swear new court members in and expel court
members. An expelled court member automatically becomes a silver
dagger. A court can have an unlimited ammount of members.

A court goes to war with the other courts, and hunts the silver
daggers. Killing silver daggers and members of other courts will raise
the ranking of both you and your court while killing inside your own
court will hurt both your own playerkill ranking and the one of your
court.

--------------
Silver daggers
--------------
In addition to the courts there is a mercenary band called the "silver
daggers" from celtic mythology. The silver daggers have sworn
alliegance to noone and are not loyal to anyone. Among the silver
daggers fighting and killing each other is common. A kill by one
silver dagger does in no way benefit the rest of the silver
daggers. It holds those who prefer to hunt alone.

Anyone can join them and you join them by going to Otho who is located
in the Northlands. If you bring him something made out of silver, he
will make you a silver dagger and join you in.

-------
Royalty
-------
The elite of the courts are of course the royal mortals, which are the
best killers of the court, ie. the Dukes and the King. The lucky will
occasionally be summoned to claim ownership of a duchy somewhere
within the Kingdoms. When this happens, go to the duchy as fast as
possible and 'claim duchy'. A Duke is a royal in ownership of a single
duchy, a King is a royal in ownership of a whole kingdom.

-------------------------------------------
Changing court and leaving the court system
-------------------------------------------
The only way to leave a court is to get a King or duke to expel
you. An expelled member will become a silver dagger, and a silver
dagger can be joined into any court by a King or Duke.

How do you leave the courtsystem. Very simple, you don't. Once you are
in you will not leave so think carefully before you enter it.

----------
Chatlines
----------
Each court except the silver daggers have their own chatline, and they
chat on it with the command 'proclaim'.

---------------------
Fighting and killing
---------------------
When you as a court member kill someone who is a court member you gain
ranking and the killer looses it.

If you as a court member kill a non-court member who is not a murderer,
you loose 100 in pk ranking and so does your court.

---------------
Ranking system
---------------
* A player starts out with a ranking of 1000.
* When you kill another player, the ranking change is calculated as a number
  between 1 and 20.
* If the killer and victim both have the same ranking, they gain 10 upon
getting the kill, and the victim looses as much.
* If the killer has 100 lower ranking than the victim, he gets 20 pts,
and if the killer has 100 higher ranking he gets 1 pt. Inbetween it's a
straight algorithm. You can never get more than 20 or less than 1.
* If the victim is not in a court, the killer gets -100 ranking change.
* If the victim and killer are in the same court and not silver daggers,
the killer looses 100 in ranking, and the victim nothing.
* The court of the killer always get as much change in ranking as the killer,
the victim's court ranking isn't effected.

----------------
   New King
----------------
If the King dies, the court member with the highest playerkill ranking
within the court will become the new King.

----------------
Statistics room
----------------
In Larstown adventurers guild there is a statistics room where you can
go and find out data about the courts and the courtmembers.

The statistics room gives the following data:
court <court> Shows data about a specific court
courts Abbrivated data about all courts
   list Top 20 ranking list
